Egon Brosig (born October 25, 1889 in Ohlau , Silesia , † May 23, 1961 in Berlin ) was a German actor and singer.

life and work

Egon Brosig began his career as an actor on stages in Salzbrunn and Kattowitz. In 1915 he came to Berlin where, as in his second adopted home Hamburg, he developed into a popular operetta buffo and character comedian in revues and operettas. At times he was considered the most renowned buffo. After the end of the Second World War , he was employed at various Berlin venues, such as the Komische Oper , the Schiller Theater , the Renaissance Theater and the tribuene .

Brosig gained his first film experience in the silent film era . With the emergence of the sound film , he played mainly in supporting roles, including for the East German film production company DEFA , where he played the Prime Minister in the film satire The Strange Adventures of Mr Fridolin B. directed by Wolfgang Staudte .

Egon Brosig found his final resting place in the Wilmersdorf cemetery in Berlin.
