Franz Koehn

Franz Koehn (born December 9, 1889 in Augustwalde in Pomerania , † after 1951) was a German film architect .

Life

Koehn received his training between 1908 and 1914 at the Royal Museum of Decorative Arts, specializing in painting and graphics. He then worked in the arts and crafts, and in May 1923 Koehn switched to film as a simple set designer.

In 1935, Franz Koehn began to design film sets in the position of chief architect. His clients were UFA , the production company Peter Ostermayrs and Bavaria . From 1942 until the end of the Second World War he was chief architect of the Tobis . After the war, Koehn was taken over by DEFA and belonged to a group of set designers. In this late phase of his professional life, Koehn was only entrusted with less important tasks.
