Gustav Püttjer

Gustav Püttjer (born May 15, 1886 in Altona , † August 11, 1959 in East Berlin ) was a German actor .

Life

The predator tamer traveled with the Hagenbeck circus through European countries for five years and then gave a guest performance in variety shows with a predator number , where he performed seven lions and a polar bear. Then he became an actor and got his first engagement at the end of 1911 in Cologne .

At first he performed mainly in dialect and came to Berlin via Gelsenkirchen in 1920. In the Café Metropol he was from a manager addressed that gave him his first small film role. From 1928 Püttjer was one of the busiest small and supporting actors in German film, who embodied mostly simple people from the people. Occasionally he also worked as a unit manager. In the time of National Socialism , at the end of the war, he was still on the God-gifted list .

After the end of the war, Püttjer mainly worked for DEFA . In addition to the Neues Lustspielhaus des Westens, he also worked for Bertolt Brecht's Berliner Ensemble .
