Five under suspicion is a crime film by director Kurt Hoffmann from 1950. In the lead role , Hans Nielsen plays Kriminalrat Thomsen, who solves a murder.

The Danish port city of Belgesund is bathed in a thick fog. The caretaker of a private high school is murdered under mysterious circumstances. When his body is found, the eager Detective Thomsen immediately begins to investigate the exact circumstances of the murder.

It doesn't take long before he realizes that both the high school students and the teachers have a lot to hide and are involved in shady events. After a successful investigation and a wild chase, he succeeds in arresting the murderer.

Production notes

Filming began on October 26, 1949 and ended on December 6 of the same year. The location was Berlin . The Berlin-Tempelhof film studio served as the studio. Franz Bi was responsible for the film construction together with Botho Höfer .

Release dates and different film titles

Five under suspicion was premiered on March 3, 1950 in Stuttgart . In Greece it was released under the title Pente ypo ypopsian , in the USA under the title City in the Fog . In addition , the title five under suspicion - City in the Fog and Murder in Belgesund - were used in Germany .
