Franz Nicklisch
Franz Friedrich Nicklisch (born March 8, 1906 in Hasserode , † December 6, 1975 in Berlin ) was a German actor and voice actor .
Life
After attending the higher commercial school , Nicklisch graduated from the theater school of the German Theater Berlin from 1926 to 1927 . In 1928 he made his stage debut at the Landestheater Halle as Gyges in Friedrich Hebbel's Gyges and his Ring . This was followed by theater engagements in Halle, Thale / Harz and Berlin (State Theater under Gustaf Gründgens , Deutsches Theater, Hebbel am Ufer , Schlosspark- and Schiller Theater ). Initially, he mainly played roles in the subject of the youthful hero and lover, later also character roles such as Lennie in John Steinbeck's Von Mäusen und Menschen (Castle Park Theater under Boleslaw Barlog ) and the Swiss in Schiller's Robbers . In a later production of the same play he played "Alten Moor", directed by Fritz Kortner. Further leading roles: the "Dorfrichter Adam" in Heinrich Kleist's "The Broken Jug", the "Alte Werle" in Ibsen's "Wildente", as well as in William Hanley's "Slow Dance", and in "The Invitation" with Helmut Griem, directed by Hans Welding karts. In 1971 Nicklisch was named a state actor by the Berlin Senate for outstanding artistic achievements.
In 1931 Nicklisch made his feature film debut with a small role in the Fritsch / Harvey musical Der Kongreßdanzt . In the following years Nicklisch played smaller and larger roles in productions such as Friedrich Schiller - Triumph einer Genius (with Horst Caspar in the title role), Tanz auf dem Vulkan (as a friend of the main character played by Gustaf Gründgens), and in Das Mädchen Johanna , Gustav Ucickys tendentious adaptation of the Maid of Orléans material . Film production also offered numerous roles for Nicklisch in the post-war period : he played alongside Heinz Rühmann in Der eiserne Gustav , as the father of Horst Buchholz in Endstation Liebe , alongside Martin Held in the drama Spion für Deutschland as well as in a British adaptation of Erich Kästner's Emil und die Detectives .
In addition, Nicklisch worked extensively in the dubbing and lent his voice to internationally known fellow actors such as Charles Bronson ( The Magnificent Seven ), William Holden ( Arizona ), Lee Marvin ( The Caine was her fate ), Pierre Mondy ( The Road to Perdition ), Harold Russell (in his Oscar- winning role as a disabled veteran in The Best Years of Our Lives ) and John Wayne ( Hell's Descent to Santa Fé ).
Franz Nicklisch was married to his colleague Ursula Meißner, with whom he had a son, Andreas Nicklisch (journalist and senior UNO official). His brother Hans worked as a writer (including Father Our Best Piece).
He rests in the forest cemetery in Zehlendorf , next to his brother.
