action

Viktor Schott, by nature bold and full of vigor and a charming womanizer, is commissioned by his father, a jeweler, to purchase an emerald necklace that a Persian in Istanbul had offered for sale. He will then bring the valuable piece of jewelery to Marseille on a ship belonging to the Groot shipping company . However, a gang of criminals is after the precious chain. Little does Viktor suspect that the attractive Delia Donovan, whom he met on the way, is part of the criminal plan and was set as a decoy on him, especially since he fell in love with the young lady. Nor does he suspect that the shipowner Groot is cooperating with the gang. Groot is the guardian of the young Sybil Termeer, a youth playmate of Viktor. Sybil secretly loves Viktor. When she realizes what is going on, she warns Viktor not only about the shipowner, but also about the captain of the ship, who also has his hands in the game. She tells him that it is planned that the piece of jewelery will change hands at a masked ball that will take place on board. However, Viktor makes the mistake of ignoring Sybil's warning. Delia has a firm grip on him.

Shortly before the ship reaches its destination, the thieving gang instigates a detonation that capsizes the vehicle. Viktor is locked in the captain's cabin, but Sybil frees him in time. Shortly afterwards, the shipowner and the captain are arrested and Delia's wrong game is also exposed. Viktor finally sees clearly and realizes that Sybil is the woman who belongs to him.
