Josef Dahmen
Josef Dahmen (born August 21, 1903 in Ohligs , today Solingen , † January 21, 1985 in Hamburg ; born Josef Jakob Dahmen ) was a German actor and voice actor .
biography
Dahmen took acting lessons from Erich Ziegel in Hamburg in 1925/26 and made his debut at the Hamburger Kammerspiele in 1925 . In 1927/28 he appeared at the Münster City Theater , and in 1929 he settled in Berlin. In Berlin he played at various theaters such as the Volksbühne , Lessingtheater and the Deutsches Theater until the end of the war .
In 1930 Dahmen received his first film role, and in the following years he was used frequently in German film, but only in smaller roles such as detective assistants and crooks. After the war, Dahmen returned to Hamburg and played there in 1946/47 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus and in 1947/48 with Willy Maertens at the Thalia Theater , and later again at the Schauspielhaus.
In film, Dahmen remained a minor actor , for example as the executioner in the Edgar Wallace film The Gang of Terror or as the gas station owner Edgar Tupper in the six-part street sweeper Tim Frazer by Francis Durbridge . As a massive senior secretary Koldehoff in the Hamburg crime series Hafenpolizei and later as a commissioner in the crime series Police Radio Calls , he became even more popular as a leading actor in old age.
Radio play fans should be familiar with his voice from many productions: In 1962, for example, in the almost three-hour NDR radio play version of RL Stevenson's Treasure Island, he was remembered as the voice of Tangua in the Winnetou radio play series based on Karl May he spoke in the productions of Konrad Halver and Peter Folken at the radio play label Europa . He previously lent the voice of the Yugoslav actor Branco Spoljar for the German dubbed version of the Karl May film Der Schatz im Silbersee and also dubbed Charles Laughton in the film Riff Piraten .
Dahmen was married to the actress Gisela von Collande since January 17, 1935 . Their daughter Andrea Dahmen and their daughter Julia are also actresses. Josef Dahmen rests at the Ohlsdorf cemetery next to his wife, grid square AC 11 (near Stiller Weg and Riedemann mausoleum).
