action
Werner Nordhaus is a train driver by profession . When he met the director of the Palladium Variety Show, Karena Rodde, his life changed. At first, Karena Rodde is only enthusiastic about his dance skills. After getting to know each other better, however, she convinced him to quit his job as a train driver in order to become an artist in Hamburg . Werner sees an opportunity to escape from the dreary everyday life. The only problem is his fiancée. Herta Wernicke is not enthusiastic about his new life idea. Even his future father-in-law Arthur Wernicke does not fit this new path into the concept of life that he envisions for his daughter. The official finally succeeds in transferring Werner to a shunting locomotive. But this measure only confirms Werner's plan. He breaks out for Hamburg and begins the life of an artist. The first successes quickly emerged, but Werner did not like life in Hamburg's bohemian region . He longs to return to the ordered world of the railroad workers. Herta finally manages to convince Werner that he will return to his old job.
