Eddie Skelton

Eddie Skelton (* in Tennessee ) is an American country and rockabilly musician .

Life

Skelton got his first job at WJHL in Johnson City , Tennessee. From 1953 Skelton could be heard regularly on Radio WPEO in Peoria, Illinois , where Skelton also performed every night with his band, the Sundown Valley Boys , at Sunset Garden. On Sunday afternoons, a show from Sunset Garden was even broadcast live on the radio. The members of the Sundown Valley Boys were Skelton ( guitar / vocals ) Shem Ward ( electric guitar ), "Bashful" Ollie Hughes ( fiddle ), Archie Simmons ( bass ) and "Little" Billy Robertson ( steel guitar ).

In 1956 Skelton worked as a disc jockey at WMCH in Church Hill. A year later he made his first recordings for Starday Records . The first single was released on May 26, 1957 with Let Me Be With You Forever b / w My Heart Gets Lonely . After a second single on Starday, his songs were released from 1958 on Dixie Records . He had changed his style to rockabilly and his band was now called Rhythamaires . In 1959, Skelton's last single was released by Dixie. Many of his songs were re-released on the LP Best of Dixie, Vol. 3 .
