Johnson City is an American city in Washington County , Tennessee . Part of it is also in Sullivan County .
The city is part of the Tri-Cities Area, consisting of the three cities Kingsport , Bristol and Johnson City. In 2016, 66,677 people lived in an area of around 102.5 km².
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) is located in Johnson City .
