Richard "Ric" Keller (born September 5, 1964 in Johnson City , Tennessee ) is an American politician . Between 2001 and 2009 he represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ric Keller attended Boone High School in Orlando until 1982 . He then studied until 1986 at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, his birthplace. After completing a law degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville and being admitted to the bar in 1992, he began to work in his new profession.

Politically, Keller joined the Republican Party . In the 2000 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the eighth constituency of Florida , where he succeeded Bill McCollum on January 3, 2001 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2009 . These were shaped by the events of the Iraq war . Keller was a member of the Education and Labor Committee , the Justice Committee and several sub-committees.

In the 2008 congressional elections, Ric Keller lost to Democrat Alan Grayson . He had run again, although he had signed a declaration prior to his first election victory that he would not seek more than four terms in office. After leaving the US House of Representatives, Keller worked as a partner in an Orlando law firm. He is married for the second time and has four children.
