Daniel "Dan" Miller (born May 30, 1942 in Highland Park , Wayne County , Michigan ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 2003 he represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Dan Miller came to Florida when he was a child. He attended Manatee High School in Bradenton until 1960 . He then studied until 1964 at the University of Florida in Gainesville , then until 1965 at Emory University in Atlanta and finally until 1970 at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge . He then taught at Georgia State University in Atlanta and the University of South Florida in Sarasota . Together with his father and brother, he also ran a restaurant and a nursing home. He also worked in the real estate industry.

Politically, Miller became a member of the Republican Party . In the 1992 congressional election , he was elected to the 13th  constituency of Florida in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Porter Goss on January 3, 1993 . After four re-elections, he was able to complete five legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 2003 . Miller served on the Budget Committee and the Committee on Government Reform and Oversight, as well as a number of subcommittees.

In 2002 he decided not to run again. Since then he has not held a higher political office.
