Dennis A. Ross

Dennis Alan Ross (* 18th October 1959 in Lakeland , Florida ) is an American politician of the Republican Party . Since 2011 he has represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives . He will not stand for re-election in 2018 .

Career

Dennis Ross attended Lakeland Senior High School until 1977 and then studied at the University of Florida and until 1981 at Auburn University in Alabama . After a subsequent law degree at the Cumberland School of Law and his admission to the bar in 1987, he began to practice in his new profession. In the meantime he also worked for several computer companies. Ross is married and has two sons.

Between 2000 and 2008, Ross was a member of the Florida House of Representatives . In the 2010 congressional elections , he was elected in the twelfth constituency of Florida with 48 percent of the vote in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded Adam Putnam, who was no longer running, on January 3, 2011 . He had already taken over its previous seat in the Florida parliament. In Congress , Ross is a member of the Financial Services Committee and two sub-committees. Within his party, he is a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee and the Tea Party Caucus , the association of supporters of the Tea Party movement .

After three re-elections in 2012, 2014 and 2016, his mandate in the House of Representatives runs until January 3, 2019. After a restructuring of the congressional constituencies in Florida in 2013, he has since represented the 15th constituency. In April 2018 he announced that he would not stand for re-election in the November 2018 election, which is why he will leave Congress in 2019. He withdraws from politics.

In 2016, Ross underwent heart surgery for a genetically engineered bicuspid aortic valve.
