Darren Soto

Darren Michael Soto (born February 25, 1978 in Ringwood , New Jersey ) is an American politician . Since January 3, 2017, he has represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Between 1996 and 2000 Darren Soto studied economics at Rutgers University . After completing a law degree at George Washington University and being admitted to the bar in 2004, he began working in this profession in 2005.

Politically, he joined the Democratic Party . Between 2007 and 2012 he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives ; from 2012 to 2016 he was a member of the State Senate . In the congressional elections of 2016 Soto in the ninth was electoral district of Florida against the Republican Wayne Liebnitzky in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeds on January 3, 2017 Alan Grayson took that no longer running for the House of Representatives had to devote himself to a then unsuccessful candidacy for the United States Senate .
