Timothy Edward "Tim" Mahoney (born August 15, 1956 in Aurora , Illinois ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2009 he represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Tim Mahoney attended Summit High School in New Jersey until 1974 and then West Virginia University in Morgantown until 1978 . He then studied until 1983 at George Washington University in the federal capital Washington, DC In the following years he worked in the computer industry and became quite wealthy. He had been based in Florida since 1986. He became CEO of an expanding computer business based in Boca Raton .

Until 2004 Mahoney was a member of the Republican Party . That year he moved to the Democrats . In the 2006 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the 16th  constituency of Florida, where he succeeded Mark Foley, who resigned on September 29, 2006, on January 3, 2007 . In 2008 he was embroiled in a sex and corruption scandal that cost him his re-election. Mahoney served on the Agriculture Committee and the Finance Committee .

After leaving the US House of Representatives, Tim Mahoney has not held any other public offices.
