Ronald "Ron" Klein (born July 10, 1957 in Cleveland , Ohio ) is an American politician . Between 2007 and 2011 he represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Ron Klein attended Cleveland Heights High School until 1975 and then studied at Ohio State University in Columbus until 1979 . After studying law at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and being admitted to the bar in 1982, he began working in his new profession in Boca Raton . There he became a director in a law firm. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . Between 1992 and 1996 he was an MP in the Florida House of Representatives ; from 1996 to 2006 he was a member of the State Senate .

In the 2006 congressional election , Klein was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the 22nd  constituency of Florida , where he succeeded E. Clay Shaw on January 3, 2007 . After being re-elected in 2008, he was able to complete two legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2011 . In the 2010 congressional elections, he was defeated by Republican Allen West , whom he had defeated two years earlier, with 46:54 percent of the vote. Klein was a member of the Finance Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee as well as a total of five sub-committees.

Ron Klein is married to Dori Dragin. The family lives privately in Boca Raton.
