The Roman Catholic Diocese of Plasencia ( Latin Dioecesis Placentinus in Hispania ) is in the west of Spain situated Roman Catholic diocese based in the city of Plasencia .

history

The diocese of Plasencia was founded in 1189 by Pope Clement III. established and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela as a suffragan . In 1851 the Diocese of Plasencia was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Toledo as a suffragan; since July 28, 1994 it has been subordinate to the Archdiocese of Mérida-Badajoz as a suffragan.
