history

The diocese Ciudad Rodrigo was founded in 1168 by Pope Alexander III. established and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela as a suffragan . The diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Valladolid as a suffragan on July 4, 1857 .
