The Diocese of Bilbao ( Latin : Dioecesis Flaviobrigensis , Spanish : Diócesis de Bilbao , Basque Bilboko Elizbarrutia ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church based in the northern Spanish city ​​of Bilbao in the Basque Country .

The diocese of Bilbao is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Burgos, founded in 1075 . It was on November 2, 1949 by Pope Pius XII. out of the diocese of Calahorra y La Calzada-Logroño , the diocese of Santander and the diocese of Vitoria .
