The Roman Catholic diocese Urgell [ uɾˈʒeʎ ] ( Latin Dioecesis Urgellensis , Catalan Bisbat d'Urgell ) is the Spanish diocese , headed by the bishop of Urgell, who resides in La Seu d'Urgell , as diocesan bishop. It stands out because its diocesan bishop is ex officio with the French president, one of the co- princes of Andorra and thus head of state of an independent state. The whole state of Andorra is part of this diocese.
