The Roman Catholic Diocese of Jaca ( lat. : Dioecesis Iacensis ) is in Spain situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Jaca .

history

The diocese of Jaca was established in 1063 by Pope Alexander II and was subordinate to the Archdiocese of Tarragona as a suffragan . On July 14, 1318, the Jaca diocese was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Saragossa as a suffragan. The diocese of Jaca was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Pamplona y Tudela as a suffragan on August 11, 1956 .

The Bishop of Jaca is in persona episcopi at the same time Bishop of Huesca .

The Jaca Cathedral is an important, very early example of Romanesque architecture in Spain.
