The Roman Catholic Diocese of Cuenca ( Latin Dioecesis Conchensis , Spanish diócesis / Obispado de Cuenca ) is in Spain situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Cuenca .

history

The diocese of Cuenca was on July 5, 1183 by Pope Lucius III. established and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Toledo as a suffragan . On November 2, 1949, the diocese of Cuenca gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Albacete .
