The Diocese of Orihuela-Alicante ( Latin : Dioecesis Oriolensis-Lucentinus , Spanish : Diócesis de Orihuela-Alicante ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in Spain with its seat in Orihuela . Together with the dioceses of Ibiza , Mallorca , Menorca and Segorbe-Castellón de la Plana, it belongs to the ecclesiastical province of Valencia .
The new bishop was appointed on July 27, 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. Jesús Murgui Soriano , who had previously been Bishop of Mallorca . His predecessor was Rafael Palmero Ramos , whose resignation due to age reasons the Pope had accepted on the same day.
