The Roman Catholic Diocese of Segovia ( Latin Dioecesis Segobiensis ) is in Central Spain situated Roman Catholic diocese based in altkastilischen city of Segovia .

history

The diocese of Segovia was established during the Visigoth Empire in the 6th century; as early as 527 a man whose name was unknown signed as “Bishop of Toledo”, but the first bishop known by name was a certain “Peter” in 589. No bishop is known from the Islamic-Moorish period. In 1123 Pope Calixtus II signed a bull to reestablish the diocese. On July 4, 1857, the diocese of Segovia was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Valladolid as a suffragan .
