Cecilio Raúl Berzosa Martínez (born November 22, 1957 in Aranda de Duero , Spain ) is a Spanish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo .

Life

Cecilio Raúl Berzosa Martínez received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Burgos on November 8, 1982 through Pope John Paul II .

On March 22, 2005, John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Arcavica and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Oviedo . The Archbishop of Oviedo, Carlos Osoro Sierra , donated him episcopal ordination on May 14th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the retired Archbishop of Oviedo, Gabino Díaz Merchán , and the Archbishop of Burgos, Francisco Gil Hellín , as well as the retired Archbishop of Burgos, Santiago Martínez Acebes .

On February 2, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Ciudad Rodrigo. The inauguration took place on April 9 of the same year.

On June 15, 2018, Pope Francis put Bishop Berzosa on leave from the leadership of the diocese. He appointed Francisco Gil Hellín , Archbishop Emeritus of Burgos, Apostolic Administrator sede plena et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis . On January 16, 2019, Pope Francis accepted the early resignation submitted by Bishop Berzosa for personal reasons.
