Francisco Gil Hellín (born July 2, 1940 in Murcia , Spain ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and retired Archbishop of Burgos .

Life

Francisco Gil Hellín received on 21 June 1964, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 3 April 1996 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Citium and ordered him to the secretary of the Pontifical Council for the Family . The President of the Pontifical Council for the Family, Alfonso Cardinal López Trujillo , ordained him episcopal on June 1st of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Valencia , Agustín García-Gasco Vicente , and the official in the Vatican State Secretariat , Archbishop of Curia Giovanni Battista Re . On March 28, 2002, John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Burgos.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on October 30, 2015.

In mid-January 2019 he was briefly apostolic administrator of the vacant diocese Ciudad Rodrigo , but was replaced after just one day.
