Wolfgang Zurborn

Wolfgang Zurborn (* 1956 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German photographer .

life and work

Wolfgang Zurborn, born in 1956 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein , studied from 1977 to 1979 at the Bavarian State College for Photography in Munich, then from 1979 to 1984 at the Dortmund University of Applied Sciences for photography and film design with Professor Hans Meyer-Veden.

He is a freelance photographer who teaches photography with lectureships and visiting professorships at the following colleges and universities: Universität der Künste Berlin , at the Technical University of Braunschweig ; at the Hochschule für Künste Bremen , the Neue Schule für Fotografie Berlin, the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe , the Fachhochschule Dortmund or in Liptovský Mikuláš (Slovakia).

Together with Tina Schelhorn, he has been running the Lichtblick photo gallery in Cologne for more than twenty years and has been promoting artistic photography on the Executive Committee of the German Photographic Academy since 1998. Zurborn is represented internationally with numerous exhibitions, often with the works shows ›Drift‹, ›Terra Incognita‹ or ›dressur real‹ in the USA , Japan , Brazil , Australia , New Zealand , Belgium , Poland , Italy , Lithuania or Sweden .

In 2009 the House of Photography, Deichtorhallen Hamburg, presented a retrospective of his work since 1980 with a focus on his two book projects China! Which China? and drift. In 2008 he received the German Photo Book Prize for this publication .

Wolfgang Zurborn lives and works in Cologne .
