Otto Steinert Prize

The Otto Steinert Prize , also known as the Dr. Otto Steinert Prize , is a sponsorship award from the German Society for Photography (DGPh), which is awarded every two years as a grant for the implementation of new photo projects. The prize was founded in 1979 by the Image Section of the DGPh and has been advertised every two years since 1983. It serves in memory of the photographer and educator Otto Steinert (1915–1978), who founded subjective photography and , as a curator and teacher at the Folkwang School in Essen, shaped an entire generation of photographers and exhibition organizers.

Prize money

The prize is endowed with 5,000 euros, which can also be divided among several winners.

Award criteria

The Otto Steinert Prize of the Image Section of the German Society for Photography (DGPh) should enable a photographic project proposed by the applicant to be realized within one year. When making the decision, independent image services are taken into account, regardless of their stylistic orientation or their subject matter.

canditature

Each applicant must submit an exposé describing the subject, objective and presentation technique of the planned photographic work. In addition, a short biography must be submitted showing the most important personal and professional stations as well as any previous publications and exhibitions.

Individuals or groups of people who have their permanent residence in Germany can apply.
