Jesús García Burillo (born May 28, 1942 in Alfamén , Spain ) is a Spanish clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Ávila .

Life

Jesús García Burillo received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Valladolid on July 25, 1971 . 1975 García Burillo was in the clergy of the Archdiocese of Madrid incardinated . In 1977 he was at the Pontifical University of Comillas in specialist biblical criticism doctorate .

On 19 June 1998. appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Basti and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Orihuela-Alicante . The Bishop of Orihuela-Alicante, Victorio Oliver Domingo , donated him episcopal ordination on September 19 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Madrid, Cardinal Antonio María Rouco Varela , and the Archbishop of Valencia , Agustín García-Gasco Vicente . On January 9, 2003, John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Ávila. The inauguration took place on February 23 of the same year

On November 6, 2018, Pope Francis accepted the resignation put forward by Jesús García Burillo for reasons of age.

On January 16, 2019, he was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the vacant Diocese of Ciudad Rodrigo .
