Ted Yoho
Theodore Scott "Ted" Yoho (born April 13, 1955 in Minneapolis , Minnesota ) is an American politician . He has represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives since 2013 .
Career
At the age of eleven, Ted Yoho moved to Florida with his parents. He later studied at the University of North Alabama and then until 1977 at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale . This was followed by a study of agriculture at the University of Florida in Gainesville until 1979 . He then worked as a veterinarian in northern Florida. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association , the Florida Ranchers Association , and the National Rifle Association , among others . Politically, he joined the Republican Party .
In the 2012 congressional election , Yoho was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC with 65 percent of the vote in the third constituency of Florida , after he had prevailed in his party's primary against long-time incumbent Cliff Stearns . He succeeded Corrine Brown in the third district on January 3, 2013 , who moved to the fifth district. Yoho was re-elected in 2014 and 2016. Yoho is or was a member of the Agriculture Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee . He is also represented on four sub-committees.
In July 2020, Yoho Alexandria insulted Ocasio-Cortez , the Democratic Congresswoman for the southern Bronx and northern Queens, in front of Roger Williams and reporters as a "fucking bitch". He had previously claimed she was "gross" for her statements that the rise in New York crime was linked to the rise in poverty and unemployment during the coronavirus pandemic . Yoho denied the sexist insult and apologized for "the abrupt nature of the conversation." Ocasio-Cortez defended himself in a highly regarded speech in the House of Representatives and denounced his misogynistic attitude. In it, she stated that she was two years younger than Yoho's youngest daughter and that she was also fighting to ensure that his daughters should no longer be insulted and dehumanized as all women experience at some point in their lives.
Ted Yoho is married and has two daughters and one son.
