Bill Posey

William "Bill" Posey (born December 18, 1947 in Washington, DC ) is an American politician . Since 2009 he has represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

In 1956, Bill Posey came to Florida with his father, who got a job with NASA . He attended Cocoa High School until 1966 and then until 1969 the Brevard Community College . From 1974 to 1976 he also worked for NASA. He then served on the Rockledge City Planning Commission . In this city he also became a member of the municipal council. Between 1986 and 1992 he was a member of the Brevard County's Business and Industrial Development Commission . In the 1970s, Posey also worked in the real estate industry.

Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party . Between 1992 and 2000 he was a member of the Florida House of Representatives , and from 2000 to 2008 he was a member of the State Senate . After the incidents in the 2000 presidential election , he campaigned for an improvement in the electoral system in Florida. He also advocated better insurance for natural disasters such as hurricanes.

In the 2008 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington in the 15th  constituency of Florida, where he succeeded Dave Weldon on January 3, 2009 . After four re-elections so far, he can still exercise his mandate in Congress today. After the election, his term of office runs from 2016 to January 3, 2019. Since 2013, he has represented the eighth congressional electoral district of his state. Posey is or was a member of the Finance Committee , the United States House Committee on Science, Space and Technology and a total of four sub-committees.

Bill Posey is married and lives privately in Rockledge.
