Walter Kehoe

James Walter Kehoe (born April 25, 1870 in Eufaula , Alabama , †  August 20, 1938 in Coral Gables , Florida ) was an American politician . Between 1917 and 1919 he represented the state of Florida in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Walter Kehoe attended his homeland public schools and moved to Florida in 1883. After a subsequent law degree and his admission to the bar in 1889, he began to work in Milton in his new profession. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party . In 1900 he was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. However, he resigned this mandate before the constituent meeting. Between 1900 and 1909, Kehoe served as a prosecutor in the Florida First Jurisdiction.

In the 1916 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Florida , where he succeeded Emmett Wilson on March 4, 1917 . Since he was not nominated for re-election in 1918, he could only serve one term in Congress until March 3, 1919 . This was shaped by the events of the First World War . In 1925 and 1926, Kehoe worked again as a prosecutor. He then practiced as a private lawyer in Miami . He died in Coral Gables on August 20, 1938.
