United States House Committee on the Judiciary

The United States House Committee on the Judiciary (also: House Judiciary Committee ) is a standing committee of the United States House of Representatives . The current chairman is Jerry Nadler ( D - NY ), the opposition leader ( ranking member ) is Jim Jordan ( R - OH ).

The committee was founded on June 3, 1813 and initially had the task of discussing rules for legal proceedings. Since then, the area of ​​responsibility has steadily increased. It is also the body of the Congress that holds hearings about impeachment of elected officials.
