The Frankenthal (Pfalz) regional court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction and one of eight regional courts in Rhineland-Palatinate . It has its seat in Frankenthal (Palatinate) .

The district courts of Bad Dürkheim , Frankenthal (Pfalz) , Grünstadt , Ludwigshafen , Neustadt an der Weinstraße and Speyer belong to the judicial district . This includes around 600,000 court residents . The regional court of Frankenthal (Palatinate) is superordinated to the Palatinate Higher Regional Court with its seat in Zweibrücken .

history

When the Palatinate was handed over to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1816, the Speyer District Court moved its seat to Frankenthal (Palatinate). This court was thus the forerunner of today's regional court. Then as now, the former hospice building on Bahnhofstrasse was the seat. In the course of the Reich Justice Acts , which came into force in 1879, the Frankenthal (Palatinate) regional court was founded. In the course of its history it worked under the legal system of France , the Kingdom of Bavaria , the Weimar Republic , the Free State of Bavaria and the Federal Republic of Germany .
