The District Court of Koblenz is a court of the ordinary jurisdiction of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Koblenz . A district court in Koblenz has existed under this name since 1820, not just since the Courts Constitution Act of 1879.

Court seat

The Koblenz Regional Court is located in the main judicial building at Karmeliterstraße 14 in Koblenz . It shares the building with the Koblenz District Court .

Around 250 people are employed at the Koblenz Regional Court, 75 of them as judges and 13 as judicial officers . The judges are distributed over 14 civil chambers , 4 chambers for commercial matters , 13 criminal chambers and a penal enforcement chamber .

In addition to the chambers for commercial matters specializing in commercial matters, the following special chambers have been set up at the Koblenz Regional Court: Building land matters, i. H. Cases of expropriation (1st civil chamber ), medical liability (10th civil chamber), banking law (3rd civil chamber), building law (4th, 8th and 9th civil chamber), traffic law (5th civil chamber) and IT law (16th civil chamber). Four appeal chambers (6th, 12th, 13th and 14th civil chambers) and one board of appeal (2nd civil chamber) deal with appeals against decisions of the local courts . For the private law area, the regional court is organized in 14 service units, in which judges, judicial officers, cost officials and office employees of the respective chambers are concentrated.

In the area of criminal law, there are special chambers for white-collar crime (4th, 8th and 10th criminal chamber), road traffic offenses (1st criminal chamber), homicides (3rd criminal chamber as jury chamber ), telecommunications monitoring measures (11th criminal chamber) and for state security matters (12th criminal chamber). For juvenile criminal law, there is a youth chamber with the 2nd criminal chamber.

Stephan Rüll is president of the regional court and Edgar Becht is vice-president.

The Higher Regional Court of Koblenz is superordinate to the Regional Court, this only the Federal Court of Justice . The district courts of Altenkirchen , Andernach , Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler , Betzdorf , Cochem , Diez , Koblenz , Lahnstein , Linz am Rhein , Mayen , Montabaur , Neuwied , St. Goar , Sinzig and Westerburg are subordinate to the District Court of Koblenz .

The Koblenz district court has existed under this name since 1820. The French court organization continued to apply in the then Prussian Rhine Province . The Cologne Court of Appeal had the function of the Court of Appeal there . The courts subordinate to him were not called district courts , but regional courts.
