Lineup

With the Highest Cabinet Order (AKO) of September 4, 1913, the formation of a regiment of hunters on horseback with the number 8 was ordered on October 1, 1913.

To do this had to submit:

At the beginning of the First World War , the hunters in the association of the 16th Cavalry Brigade (together with the Jäger Regiment on Horseback No. 7) initially moved to the west, only to be transferred to the eastern front in spring 1915 . Here the regiment was used in accordance with its task in the patrol, security and reconnaissance service. No evidence is available for the period after August 1916.

The tradition took over in the Reichswehr the 4th Squadron of the 9th (Prussian) Reiter Regiment in Beeskow .

uniform

The uniform was based on the style of the cuirassiers . The tunic was gray-green with Swedish facings. Collars, lapels and lugs were light green, while the badge color was white. The buttons were white, boots and leather gear were black. The officer's helmet like the cuirassiers, but made of blackened sheet metal with a dragoon eagle as ornament, edging rails, scale chains and tip were made of tombac . The team helmet corresponded to the helmet of the Dragoons. (Since there were not enough cuirassier helmets available when regiments 8-13 were set up, they were not converted until 1915.) Dragoon boots were worn. The epaulets were marked with the regimental number.
