The Uhlan regiment "Kaiser Wilhelm II., King of Prussia" (3rd Royal Saxon) No. 21 was an Uhlan regiment in the 4th Royal Saxon Division .
Lineup and history
The regiment was set up in Zeithain in 1905 , and in October 1905 it was moved to Chemnitz , where the division's command was also located. The regiment formed together with the Royal Saxon Carabiner Regiment (2nd Heavy Regiment) in Borna the 40th Cavalry Brigade (4th Royal Saxon).
For mobilization at the beginning of the First World War in 1914, it was subordinated as a regiment of the 40th Cavalry Brigade to the newly established 8th Cavalry Division (Royal Saxon) . Thus it belonged to the XIX. (II. Royal Saxon) Army Corps and was part of the 3rd Army . The division was deployed on the Western Front until the end of the war.
barracks
The regiment's barracks were located in the garrison town of Chemnitz on the edge of the Zeisigwald on Planitzstrasse. The barracks were built from 1905 on the site on which the barracks for the 15th Royal Saxon Infantry Regiment No. 181 had been built between 1900 and 1906.
hospital
The regiment's military hospital was located right next to the barracks on Zeisigwaldstrasse and was used as a garrison hospital with the 15th Royal Saxon Infantry Regiment. There is still a hospital there today.
