First World War
After the mobilization in July 1914, the regiment was first transferred from the 39th to the 30th Infantry Division and carried out patrol, security and reconnaissance service at Mulhouse in Alsace and in the area of Saint-Quentin in northern France until the end of September . The regiment remained in the Arras and Ypres area until the end of November 1914 before being relocated to the east. Until autumn 1916, the hunters fought both as cavalry and infantry on the Vistula , the Rawka , Bzura and the Daugava . In the meantime, the regiment was involved in advances in the direction of Kovno and Vilna . After that, the unit was transferred to Stage Inspection 12 in Russian Poland, where it took over police and security tasks until February 1919. The unit retained its cavalry status until the end of the war.
Since the home garrison could no longer be reached, the regiment was disbanded in Spangenberg on February 22, 1919 .
Before the march back, a volunteer squadron had been assembled in Grodno for border protection tasks.
The tradition took over in the Reichswehr the training squadron of the 11th (Prussian) cavalry regiment in Ohlau .
