The . Lancers Regiment "Graf zu Dohna" (East Prussian) No 8 was an East Prussian Lancers - Regiment with garrison in Gumbinnen second squadron and Stallupönen 1st and 3rd Squadron.
history
Friedrich zu Dohna-Schlobitten resigned from the Prussian army in 1812 in order to be able to enter Russian service. He came to the Russian-German Legion. Count zu Dohna became a major in the Legion's hussar staff . On September 1, 1814, he took over two hussar regiments of the Russian-German Legion in Prussian service. On March 19, 1815 formation of a Uhlan Regiment, which later formed the East Prussian Uhlan Regiment No. 8, which was named in 1889. The founding of the regiment was a joint Prussian-Russian achievement in the Wars of Liberation .
