Hermann von Krosigk

Hermann von Krosigk (born March 19, 1815 in Potsdam , † April 29, 1868 in Tübingen ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Hermann was a member of the noble family of Krosigk . He was the eldest son of Ludwig (Louis) von Krosigk (1781-1821), commander of the 1st Battalion in the 2nd Silesian Infantry Regiment and his wife Bertha Luise, née von Brederlow (1794-1828). His brother was the later Lieutenant General Rudolf von Krosigk . The father died at the age of 41 as a result of a wound received in the battle of Montmirail . Hermann was six years old at the time.

Military career

Krosigk began his military career in June 1834 in the Guard Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army . In April 1835 he was Portepeefähnrich and in August of the same year already aggregated Second Lieutenant , where he was assigned to the regiment in May 1836. From October 1830 to May 1840 he was assigned to the teaching cadron . In 1845 he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant , in 1848 to Rittmeister and Squadron Chief , and in 1856 to Major . From April 1857 he was a regular staff officer in the 4th Dragoons Regiment and since June 1859 commander of the 4th Landwehr Dragoons Regiment. He was relieved of this position in November 1859 to become leader of the 3rd Combined Uhlan Regiment in May 1860 . In July 1860 he was promoted to commander of the 11th Uhlan Regiment and then commanded the 8th Uhlan Regiment from March 7, 1863 to May 12, 1866 . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in October 1861 and in March 1863 became commander of the Uhlan Regiment No. 3 . In 1863 he rose to colonel and was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle III in January 1865 . Class with a bow. Under position à la suite of this regiment, Krosigk was appointed commander of the 2nd Landwehr Cavalry Brigade in May 1866, with which he took part in the German War . After the peace treaty he was briefly assigned to lead the 10th Cavalry Brigade in Poznan . In this position, Krosigk was promoted to major general on September 20, 1866 and appointed commander of this large formation on November 3, 1866 . Krosigk died in the course of his service and was buried on May 4, 1868 in the Berlin-Hasenheide garrison cemetery.

At the New Year of 1842 Krosigk married Elisabeth (Betty) Freiin von Pallandt (1823-1884) in Militsch . She was the daughter of the later Prussian major general Johann von Pallandt (1789-1859). The following children were born from the marriage:
