Rudolf von Krosigk

Rudolf von Krosigk (born December 4, 1817 in Neisse ; † January 5, 1874 in Dessau ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

Rudolf was the second eldest son of Ludwig (Louis) von Krosigk (1781-1821) and his wife Bertha, née von Brederlow. His older brother was the future major general Hermann von Krosigk (1815–1868). The father died at the age of 40 as a result of a wound sustained in the battle of Montmirail .

Military career

Krosigk attended the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium in Berlin and then joined the Guard Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army on January 14, 1836 . During the German War in 1866 he took part in the battles at Trautenau , Soor , Queen's Court and the Battle of Königgrätz as a colonel and commander of the Guard Hussar Regiment . In this Krosigk was seriously wounded by a sword blow and was awarded the Cross of the Commander of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern with Swords for his services on September 20, 1866 . After the war he was appointed commander of the 22nd Cavalry Brigade on July 28, 1868 .

With the mobilization at the beginning of the war against France , he was appointed commander of the mobile 10th Cavalry Brigade and shortly afterwards on July 26, 1870 he was promoted to major general. As such, he took part in the pursuit battle after the Battle of Wörth , the bombardment of Marsal, the battles at Sedan , Orléans , Le Mans and the battles at Dannemois, Toury, Artenay , Marchenoir , Chartres , Courville, Illiers, Yevres, Bellême , Alençon and Villaines part. After the end of the war he returned home, awarded the two classes of the Iron Cross . On April 12, 1873 he was with the character as a lieutenant general with board for disposition made.

He died in Dessau and was buried in Poplitz . Krosigk was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

On October 8, 1857, Krosigk married in Gröna Antoinette von Krosigk (1821–1866), a daughter of his father's brother Anton Emil von Krosigk . Their son Günther von Krosigk was born in Treptow a. R. born. He died as admiral a. D. and chief of the North Sea naval station in 1938 in Brumby near Calbe (Saale).
