Ernst von Schaumburg

Ernst Friedrich Johann Schaumburg , from 1842 von Schaumburg (born August 1, 1807 in Wickrath , † October 10, 1882 in Düsseldorf ), was a Prussian officer and historian .

Life

His mother was born from Lohausen .

In 1825, Schaumburg joined the 4th Dragoon Regiment of the Royal Prussian Army . In 1827 he received his patent as second lieutenant and was stationed in Deutz . Except for the times when he served on the fronts, he was a teacher at the local division school. Later he worked in the adjutantage and in the general staff. During this time he was ennobled . In 1857 he resigned as commander of the 8th Uhlan Regiment with the rank of colonel in retirement . During his career he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class and the Iron Cross II. Class received.

Schaumburg had already started writing, but expanded it again in retirement. In the Franco-Prussian War of 1870/1871 he returned to active service in the royal Prussian army as deputy brigade commander of the cavalry . His estate is kept in the Rhineland Department of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Archives .

After 1841 he married the Albertine Caroline Wilhelmine Marie Agnes von Britzke (* June 18, 1809; † March 31, 1890) from the Briesen family, widow of Friedrich Wilhelm von Winterfeldt (1830-1893).
