Anton Jules , actually Anton Julisch , (born August 24, 1860 in Brno , † August 2, 1913 in Vienna ) was a Bohemian theater actor and director.

Life

Jules, the son of a dance teacher, began his stage work as an extra in Brno in 1879, then came to ballet (1880 to 1881), was then always active in character comics in Klagenfurt , Pest , Olmütz , Reichenberg and other places, then worked from 1888 to In 1898 at the Stadttheater in Graz , from where he was appointed to the Carltheater in Vienna, in 1900 he moved to the Raimundtheater . His last place of work was the Viennese Citizens' Theater , of which he became the chief director.

Anton Jules had already suffered from lungs when he left Graz and was occasionally restricted in his voice, but, with death in his chest , he still practiced his profession successfully for years. His wife Betty and his disabled son are likely to have received financial support after his death from friends of the poorly funded artist. Jules' successor at the Bürgerertheater was Fritz Werner (1871–1940).

His sister was the stage actress Hermine Jules (1850-1901).
