Friedrich Konstantin Heinrich von Urlaub (born December 15, 1786 in Querfurt , † November 17, 1874 in Eilenburg ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Friedrich was the son of Colonel a. D. , most recently in the "Kochtitzky" cuirassier regiment , Heinrich Ludwig von Urlaub (1750–1826) and his wife Auguste Sophie Frederike, née von Uffel.

Military career

On November 1, 1800, Urlaub joined the Chevauleg regiment "von Polenz" of the Electoral Saxon army and on November 19, 1801, was promoted to cornet . During the Fourth Coalition War he was wounded in the Battle of Jena and still fought in the defense of Danzig and the Battle of Heilsberg . On July 15, 1807, he was promoted to Sousleutnant . In the Fifth Coalition War , Saxony fought on the side of France. Urlaub was wounded in the battle near Stötteritz and was appointed Premier Lieutenant on June 4, 1809 . He was also with the Saxon Corps, which took part in Napoleon's Russian campaign in 1812 . There he fought with Podubna , Wollkowist, Janow, Pruzany, Lubonell, Luck, Leckna, Willkirinski, Swiczlow and Litensky. In the battle near Dubitka, he acquired the Knight's Cross of the Military Order of St. Henry and the Cross of the Legion of Honor . On June 9, 1813, he became captain and squadron chief of the Saxon Uhlan regiment. During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großbeeren , Dennewitz , Leipzig and the battles near Kalisch, Wittstock, Eilenburg, Gleina, Freyburg , Weberstedt, Namur and the siege of Antwerp.

After Napoleon's defeat, Urlaub entered Prussian service on June 15, 1815 and was employed as Rittmeister and squadron chief in the 7th Uhlan Regiment . On July 13, 1817 he was aggregated to the 2nd Dragoons Regiment , before being transferred to the 8th Uhlan Regiment on March 30, 1819 as a squadron chief . There he became major on January 19, 1823 and received the service cross in 1826 . On March 30, 1836, he was initially assigned to lead the regiment and on October 19, 1836, he was appointed. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1837 and received the Order of the Red Eagle III on January 18, 1838 . Class with a bow. On March 30, 1839, he was then colonel patent on 12 April 1839. He was christened on 23 December 1841 his farewell to the statutory pension and the character as a major general.

Urlaub died unmarried on November 17, 1874 in Eilenburg.
