history

Lineup

On October 1, 1913 (Foundation Day), the Highest Cabinet Order (AKO) ordered the formation of the Jäger Regiment on horse No. 11 with five squadrons .

To do this had to submit:

The regiment was stationed in Tarnowitz and, together with the Uhlan regiment "von Katzler" (Silesian) No. 2, formed the 44th Cavalry Brigade in Gliwice under Colonel Albert von Mutius .

First World War

After the mobilization in July 1914, the regiment took over the protection of the border with Russia in Upper Silesia . It then moved to the west , where it took part in the battles of Neufchâteau and Tintigny. Until August 1915, the regiment provided courier and reporting services according to its mandate, until it was used as infantry in the area of Vimy and Arras in September 1915 . At the beginning of 1916 the regiment was moved to the eastern theater of war, where it was used to secure borders in Courland , Lithuania and Russian Poland. This also included combating alliances of armed Russian deserters and other armed groups of the population that did not belong to the combatant status.

On January 31, 1919 the regiment in Tarnowitz was disbanded.

The tradition of the regiment took over in 1921 in the Reichswehr the training squadron of the 8th (Prussian) cavalry regiment in Brieg .

uniform

The tunic was made of cloth with gaugrünem Swedish lapels and yellow buttons. Collars, lugs and lapels were light green, the badge color light blue. The regimental number was on the shoulder pieces. The leather gear was black. Officers wore the cuirassier helmet with dragoon eagle, men and officers the dragoon helmet. Dragoon boots were commonly used. The bandolier was only intended for officers.

Since the cuirassier helmet provided for the men when the regiments were set up - made of blackened sheet steel as for the first seven regiments, but with fittings made of tombac instead of nickel silver - were not available, these regiments were equipped with the dragoon helmet. It was not until 1915 that the equipment was converted to the originally planned equipment.
