Wilhelm Fabian von Brozowski (born July 3, 1788 in Schliewe , † January 7, 1854 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the Prussian captain and lord of Schliewe Wilhelm Fabian von Brozowski (* around 1758, † after 1795) and his wife Eleonore, born von Willamowski († after 1795).

Military career

Brozowski visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . On March 27, 1804 he was employed as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Möllendorff" of the Prussian army . As Portepeefähnrich Brozowski took part in 1806/07 during the Fourth Coalition War in the Battle of Auerstedt , in which he was wounded, as well as the battles at Boitzenburg and Prenzlau.

After the peace treaty Brozowski was promoted to Second Lieutenant of the Infantry in January 1808 and was aggregated to the 2nd West Prussian Dragoons Regiment on September 6, 1809 . With this regiment he participated in Napoleon's Russian campaign in 1812 in association with the French army . In the course of the campaign Brozowski fought at Ruhenthal , Eckau , Olav , Tomoscna, Dahl churches Samsonkrug and Piktupönen and was twice wounded. In the Wars of Liberation , now against Napoleon, he took part in the battles near Großbeeren , Dennewitz and Leipzig , the assault on Arnhem and the sieges of Wesel and Antwerp . For Großbeeren he received the Iron Cross II. Class and on October 11, 1814 Brozowski was honored with the order Pour le Mérite for his achievements during the Russian campaign in 1812 .

Before the start of the summer campaign , Brozowski was promoted to prime lieutenant on April 27, 1815 and served as the leader of his regiment's hunter squadron until early November 1815. This was followed by his transfer to the 7th Dragoons Regiment and on October 16, 1816, promotion to Rittmeister . With the promotion to major Brozowski rose to the regimental staff. In the same capacity he worked from July 10, 1833 to April 6, 1842 in the 6th Uhlan Regiment in Paderborn . Then promoted to lieutenant colonel, he was assigned to lead the 8th Uhlan regiment . On September 12, 1842 Brozowski was appointed regimental commander and in this position was promoted to colonel on March 22, 1845 . In 1847 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, IV class. On March 3, 1848 Brozowski was put up for disposal as major general with a pension .

family

Brozowski married Henriette Amalie Isabella Zurhellen (1795-1824) in Lippstadt on August 25, 1821 . From this marriage u. a. the later Prussian Lieutenant General Adolf von Brozowski (1823–1905) emerged. After the early death of his first wife, he married Karoline Amalie Henriette von Schorlemer (1793–1862) in Lippstadt on December 20, 1827 .
