The Neuwied District Court is a court of ordinary jurisdiction in Rhineland-Palatinate . It is one of the 15 district courts in the district of the Koblenz Regional Court .

history

The old court building on the Hermannstrasse 39 site was built from 1854 onwards as a district and jury court according to a design by building inspector Althof, the successor to Johann Claudius von Lassaulx , in the neo-Romanesque style . On July 2, 1856, the building was handed over to its intended use.

With the entry into force of the Courts Constitution Act for the German Reich in 1879, the district court became a district court, and until 1933 the Neuwied district court was also housed in the building. In 1935/1936 the building was rebuilt and extended by a wing on Bahnhofstrasse. Between 1973 and 1975 the component on Bahnhofstrasse was expanded again. The courthouse has been a listed building since 1997 .

Until the anniversary celebration in July 2006, extensive renovation of the entire building inside and the old building outside was carried out. The equipment also included a powerful IT system.

The seat of the court is Neuwied. The district court district of Neuwied comprises the area of ​​the city of Neuwied and the municipalities of Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach , Dierdorf and Puderbach with around 120,000 so-called court residents .

The Neuwied district court is responsible for all matters that can be brought before a district court. The district court of Montabaur has been responsible as the register court for entries in the commercial and association register of the Neuwied judicial district since 2006 . Dunning cases have been processed by the central dunning court at the Mayen District Court since 2005 .

Special jurisdiction

The Neuwied District Court is an insolvency court and an agricultural court also for the Linz am Rhein district court . The lay judge's court and the youth lay judge's court of the Neuwied district court are also responsible for judges 'and junior lay judges' cases from the Linz am Rhein district court.

The district court of Koblenz is superordinate to the district court of Neuwied . The competent higher regional court is the higher regional court Koblenz .
