Ädilbek Ryskeldiuly Schaqsybekow ( Kazakh Әділбек Рыскелдіұлы Жақсыбеков , Russian Адильбек Рыскельдинович Жаксыбеков / adilbek zhaksybekov * 26. July 1954 in Börili , Kazakh SSR ) is a Kazakh politician . He was Minister of Industry and Trade from 2003 to 2004 and Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan from 2009 to 2014 .

biography

Ädilbek Ryskeldiuly Schaqsybekow was born on July 26, 1954 in the Qostanai region of the Kazakh SSR. In 1982 he graduated from the Economics Faculty of the State Film Art Institute in Moscow . In 1995 he was elected as a deputy to the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the following year he was appointed deputy governor of the Aqmola region . From December 1997 to June 2003, Shaqsybekov was the mayor of the Kazakh capital Astana (Nur-Sultan since 2019) .

From June 2003 to December 2004 he was Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. From December 19, 2004, he held the position of head of the Presidential Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and since January 23, 2008 he has been the first deputy chairman of the Nur Otan party . From November 11, 2008, Shaqsybekov acted as the Kazakh ambassador to Russia .

On June 24, 2009 he became Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan. After the resignation of Serik Akhmetov as Prime Minister and the subsequent formation of a new government, he was replaced by Akhmetov as the new Minister of Defense. Sheqsybekov has been State Secretary since April 3, 2014.

On October 22nd, 2014 he was appointed mayor of the Kazakh capital Astana (since 2019 Nur-Sultan) . Since June 21, 2016 he has been head of the presidential administration of the Kazakh President.
