Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise

The Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise ( Ukrainian Орден князя Ярослава Мудрого ) is an Order of Merit of Ukraine donated by the Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma on August 23, 1995 . It is named after the Grand Duke of Kiev Yaroslav the Wise (976-1054) and divided into five classes.

Earnings required

The medal is awarded to citizens for special services in honor of Ukraine in nation building, strengthening the international reputation of Ukraine in business, science, education, culture, art, health and for outstanding charitable, humanistic and social activities.

Foreign citizens and stateless persons can be awarded the medal in the following classes:

  • 1st class to: heads of state of sovereign states (and spouses), religious leaders;
  • 2nd class to: heads of government and parliament presidents of sovereign states, prominent politicians and public figures;
  • 3rd class to: Foreign Ministers, Ministers of other Foreign Ministries, Ambassadors of Foreign States in Ukraine;
  • 4th and 5th grades to: Well-known scientists, artists, writers, religious leaders, business people, human rights activists, athletes and others.
