Sät Besimbajuly Toqpaqbajew ( Kazakh Сәт Бесімбайұлы Тоқпақбаев , Russian Сат Бесимбаевич Токпакбаев ; born September 17, 1939 in Kaszik, Kazakh SSR general ) is a Kazakhstani general .

Life

Sät Toqpaqbayev was born in 1939 in the village of Kaszik in the Ile district in what is now the Almaty region. From 1958 to 1963 he attended the Kirov Kazakh State University in Alma-Ata . This was followed by a visit to the KGB High School 302 in Minsk until 1964 . In 1971 he graduated from the Higher Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Soviet Union .

After graduating from Kirov University, he worked for a short time as an investigator at the regional prosecutor's office in Alma-Ata Oblast. He then worked in various positions for the security authorities of the Kazakh SSR. After Kazakhstan's independence from the Soviet Union, he was head of the Kazakh secret service in Almaty and the Almaty region from November 1991. Subsequently, Toqpaqbayev became first deputy chairman of the country's National Security Committee in June 1993, and from December he was its chairman. From November 1995 he was head of the security service of the President of Kazakhstan and from December 1995 he was also commander of the Republican Guard of Kazakhstan. On 13 October 1993, he was in the cabinet of Prime Minister kassym-jomart tokayev as the new defense minister appointed. After about two years as a member of the government, he became an advisor to the Kazakh President in December 2001 and from April 2002 to February 2003 he was chairman of the Commission to Combat Corruption and Respect for Professional Ethics by Officials. From 2002 to 2007 he was CEO of the Kazakh airline Euro-Asia Air . After the general election in 2007 Toqpaqbajew MP for was Nur Otan in the MAZHILIS , where he was a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security.
